Tatty Bumpkin Clapham provide yoga based classes for babies and children in South West London: Clapham, Wandsworth and Battersea area. We help children aged 0-7 to be bendy, giggly, clever and strong:

  • Bendy - develop flexibility through yoga

  • Giggly - enhance creativity with multi-sensory stories and original music

  • Clever - aid development with early years curriculum links

  • Strong - promote wellbeing and relaxation

The classes have been developed by yoga teachers, physiotherapists and educationalists so are developmental as well as fun.

"My two children attend yoga classes on Fridays with Tatty Bumpkin Clapham and they absolutely love it! My son asks me every morning what day of the week it is and every Friday he rejoices and says "it's yoga day!" and rushes to get dressed. The certificate that each child receives at the end of the session is also a lovely idea and it's nice to see the different postures used in the class on the back of the card... thank you for making my kids so happy on Fridays and for introducing yoga to them which I hope they will keep practicing all their life."

Classes in education

We currently run classes in local nurseries and schools for babies 0-2yrs old and children 2-7yrs old.  To discuss how Tatty Bumpkin sessions could work in your nursery, school, playgroup or children’s centre, please contact me.

Nursery sessions are adapted for any age from 6 weeks to 5 years. Through her adventures, Tatty Bumpkin classes are linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and enable children to make progress in physical development, communication, language and Literacy as well as encouraging children’s creativity, self-confidence and emotional wellbeing.

Nurseries have fed back to us that the sessions promote concentration, physical and communication skills as well as confidence, turn taking and understanding and following instructions. The classes have also been a useful tool for observation and assessment and we provide supporting documents with curriculum links and information sheets to enable parents to support at home.

School sessions are adapted for children aged 4-7 years. Within a school setting we can provide weekly classes as part of the curriclum, PPA cover or breakfast, lunch-time or after-school clubs.  In addition we can run day-long themed workshops for healthy eating week or for any theme of your choice. Click here to find out more about Tatty Bumpkin in Schools. As with our nursery sessions, we provide full supporting documentation for the classes we teach including EYFS notes where relevant and supporting documents for parents.

MEET THE TEAM!!

Christina - I am the owner of Tatty Bumpkin Clapham and live locally in Clapham with my son.  I am passionate about yoga and child development and am a fully qualified Baby and Tatty Bumpkin teacher.  I have studied art therapy for children and child development and have worked with children with special needs in school settings.  I have also been practising yoga and enjoying the benefits myself for over 20 years. Everyone can benefit from yoga and I’m delighted to share it with local families, schools and children.

Ivana is an extremely experienced adult Ashtanga yoga teacher as well as a fully qualified Tatty Bumpkin and Baby Bumpkin teacher.  She has gained extensive experience working with children teaching English in nurseries and primary schools in Italy. As well as being a wonderful, intuitive and creative yoga teacher, Ivana is a gifted story teller and able to draw the children into a wonderful imaginary world while encouraging movement and yoga at the same time.

Becks is a fully qualified Tatty Bumpkin and Baby Bumpkin teacher and is also a devout yogi with several years of her own personal practise.  Becks brings a wonderful sense of warmth and charm to her classes which always flow beautifully and are full of fun and laughter.  Being a local mum she is a natural with the little ones and builds a wonderful rapport with our little yogis and their carers.   Becks is also a self-confessed foodie and loves to bake, having run her own local baking business…so if you’re after that special birthday cake - she’s your lady!

Emily is a fully qualified Tatty Bumpkin teacher and has also completed her adult yoga training with Yoga London. Emily has a wealth of experience teaching young children as she has previuosly taught music and dance in nurseries and ballet classes to young children.  She is also a drama student so brings a great sense of fun and adventure to her classes.

Hannah is a qualified adult yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance as well as a fully qualified Baby and Tatty Bumpkin teacher.  She brings a huge amount of creativity and fun to her classes.  She loves helping the children explore their imagination through the stories in our classes and also guiding them to breathe and relax at the end of class, she believes it is extremely important that children can learn how to slow down and be present.  In her spare time she loves to paint and draw and can also provide face painting at our parties!

I and my team of teachers are all qualified Tatty Bumpkin and Baby Bumpkin teachers and we are proud that our training courses are accredited by Yoga Alliance UK and CACHE [Council for Awards in Children’s Care, Health & Education] We also all hold enhanced CRB checks, are fully insured and have up to date Paediatric First Aid training

We look forward to meeting you in our classes!
